For the Empire. For Dathomir.
One week ago, I decided to take up drawing, finally! I really don't know much about anything yet, except that I want to draw Morgan Elsbeth forever and solve the enigma that is her hair.

more detail shots from the first panels! what a delight this was. this kept exploring the movement i had tried out with raphael and lorrain, but tried to approach the world of comics more. technical and conceptual info is on the other post.
Hereâs to the recklessly-unmeasured brush strokes and random boost of hues from semi-solid colors. The uncertainty of knowing whatâs about to unfold with each drop of water; satisfying yet terrifying. Hereâs to worshipping the arbitraryness of catatonic mediums; still and undetermined. Hereâs to wrong decisions. Hereâs to the art works which will never make it on the museum halls or the tiny spaces of a human flesh. Hereâs to everthing left unfinished.

Guys, tonight I'll finish my first nsfw art, and it's Ahsoka being Morgan's rope bottom!!!
the last bit of this daily queue are the uni works i forgot to share last year! this lovely piece is from june, and itâs messeiurs nadar and delacroix preparing to take the latterâs photograph!
itâs permanent marker on 4 layers of plastic. this was the first time i tried this method -iâd worked with markers plenty, but was considering to explore transparency somehow And my teacher asked me to make things bigger. we didnât have a very good relationship but that particular indication and small period of the course were great. this first time i relied on transparency to give a sense of depth. itâs a pretty obvious/superficial use, but i think the result still has its merit!
i had been working strictly with art history for over a year by then, and this work let me made clear that i was interested in presenting great, iconic, pretty much Mythical figures of history as Human. the stories and realities we donât see, behind the proofs that we Do possess even today. they say both nadar and delacroix were most charming men! but we donât talk about it that often, do we?
i still love this work. i had not exacerbated the influence of comics and animation yet, but because of that it has a result Just between painting and drawing, just between classical and contemporary. itâs very special. itâs a vibe and a road i still want to explore, and this result is so peaceful and welcoming, to me.

here we go! for my thesis, i decided to work with giotto and delacroix. after a few tries this new semester, my teacher gave me the green light to try and make a book since i'm so insistent on the influence of comics and what do you know, i'm having Actual fun! i'm very glad for that. this year has been pretty difficult at uni. since my thing is working with historical figures like they're characters, so i can change the distant, academic image of the Genius that institutions like so much, i'm going to build a narrative consisting on their possible experiences As They Make Art. our creative process is a thing of many layers and facets, and this vice of seeing great artists as something beyond human and that don't make mistakes or anything is, tiring and devoid of humanity in my opinion. so, i took a bunch of already completed pieces and made plenty of quick, small tests and threw them all together to see what a book would look like! it's a mixture of the materials i've been working with -intervened prints, and marker over plastic. i'm so happy to get to make both coexist because i enjoy both techniques immensely! so it's all about plays on transparency and the temporal properties of comic pages and panels. i put special attention to expressiveness because i think it's extremely important to properly tell a story and, you know, it's my thing! this is a mess but it's a great mess. i can already tell plenty of the things that need fixing and i can't wait to draw all these pages Properly and graduate happily with what i'm capable of doing. what a road it's been! but now i'm certain of what i want! but if i'm being honest, that's also why i'm worried for monday's class. i'll let you know how it goes. i really want to have fun with these two!
