Dear AD, is it normal for companies to give art tests for freelance work? I have always been under the impression that art tests are for in-house jobs but now I'm just confused...
No itās not normal. Art tests are common for long term projects and staff jobs (whether theyāre in-house or remote) but not for single commissions. I guess if itās a big long-term project thatās still freelance I could see that happening, but thatās usually more what we like to callĀ āperma-lanceā in the biz. Snarkily.
