“Go.” By Maisha Grace __________________________________ Fearing what lies ahead, I sit and dream past the horizon. Through my thoughts, small and faint, a siren calls to me. Her song skips across the waves. “Go.” Fearing what lies beneath, I fight to pull my feet from the edge. Like the tide, the call tickles at my toes. Coaxing me out to the open sea. “Go.” I breathe in her fragrant possibility. It floats by on the sea breeze. It lifts me up like the waves. “Where to?” I listen for her new guidance, but her instructions echo the same. “Go.” Fearing what lies ahead, I sit and dream past the horizon. Through my thoughts, small and faint, a siren calls to me. Her song skips across the waves. “Go.” ——————————————— Real talk, I’ve never been able to keep a journal. As a writer, the irony isn’t lost on me. Neither was the desperate need for an outlet to freely express how I feel with out the need for spell check. Searching for an outlet, my subconscious had my back. Out of the blue I was reminded of a beautiful oil pastel art set I had when I was younger. The HOURS I would spend on the floor on my room drawing away. I loved the traces on the carpet the pastels would leave behind. My mother did not, especially when we had to had to change the flooring of the whole house due to my happy accidents. (Yes, I know. And yes, she still won’t let me live it down to this day.) Luckily now, with aged wisdom and there always being “an app for that”, I was led to the Art Set App. I’m not affiliated with the app in anyway and this post is by no means sponsored. I just wanted to share if you too are looking for an outlet. Of course, with any app with a free and premium version there are certain features you’d have to pay to use, but the free version has brought me such joy and helped me on “one of those days” and I figured I share #accountablemillennial #blackcreators #blackcontentcreators #blackgirlmagic #artsetapp #digitalart #arttherapy #selfcare #blackmentalhealth https://www.instagram.com/p/CEcchzxJPci/?igshid=zm3al9ivn3ix
