Good Day, PoetryPeeps… I’d like to inform and remind all Poets of my efforts with The Indie YYC, for furthering the interaction, integration, and inspiration of Calgary Poets and Spoken Word Artists. These efforts are in the interest of curating and continuing to present an Online Poetic Presence that is vibrant and unique in the Calgary Poetry Community. The two Voem (Video Poem) Reading Series that I curate online for this Artist Collective are: The Indie YYC Inspires… & The Indie YYC Speak Up! The first series truly is a come-one-come-all and any style is welcome. Please just put your best Poetic foot through the door and step right in. The second is for the Poetry that is deeper, darker, challenging and intense - often, the hardest topics in our lives are submitted for this series, as it is a ultra-safe place to feel vulnerable - and safe. Professional Production be damned! A Voem is simple. People take selfies all the time. YOU have taken selfies. So… Hit record on your phone camera, read your Poem and - 💥- you’ve produced a Voem. I have had some success reaching a few of you, there’s SO many more of you - and I began this initiative with The Indie YYC at the beginning of Covid-19… in hopes of assisting our sustaining, while live performance was banned. I don’t care that COVID is ‘over’ as I believe in this initiative anyway. I believe that it’s one of the easiest and accessible avenues for observing who and what is really out there in our Poetry Community - then connecting with it and them. My PoetryPeeps… Good Day, Greetings & Salutations. Hello and How are you, today? WarmestWelcome. Last year, actually, 11 months ago, The City of Calgary and the Calgary Downtown Association made contact with Da Lyrical PitBull and PitBull Poetry In The Park was born. This was a collaboration in the interest of revitalizing the downtown core with sorely-missed, VR-bounded, live entertainment. I was so Elated Flattered Grateful & Honoured that I was asked to participate in assisting the charge with the PitBull Poetry Reading Series coming to life in Century Gardens, Calgary. Last August, we had 3 Wednesdays of Featured Spoken Word Artists, taking to the mobile light and sound-stage, at a one most reputed corner of “6th & 7th”. Now… I’m back. It’s back. We’re back. PitBull Poetry In The Park shall be commandeering every Wednesday in July! From 6:00PM - 8:00PM, we shall be celebrating the Art of Spoken Word, the Power of a Poetry and the resurrection of Live Entertainment in Century Gardens!
