Birthday Art
Every year on my birthday I draw myself, this becoming a less original feat as I’ve slowly morphed into a self portrait artist. However, it’s a tradition I’m unwilling to break, so, every year on my birthday I specifically draw myself for my birthday. This can mean different things, sometimes I’ll incorporate birthday things such as balloons, cake, candles, or banners, or sometimes (once so far)…
This week marked the start of Spring. For me, it’s the week I begin preparing for my next great adventure.
This summer I will work in the operations team at Marlboro Music School & Festival in Vermont, 900 miles east of Chicago. It will be the furthest I’ve ever lived from home. Unlike a drive to Elmhurst College, my selection of clothing and composition materials will be limited to what my suitcase can hold.
Regardless, I know this is going to be worth it. My connections who have spent the summer at Marlboro have said it’s a unique and incredible experience. I will be seeing some of the same musicians I knew at Ravinia. Not only will it be a milestone of independence, but an unbeatable next step in my path towards a career in arts administration.
We’re looking for a new Director of Artist Development at the National Centre for Circus Arts.
The role is intended to provide support and opportunities for circus artists, particularly those at the early stages of their careers. The work will directly support the organisation's mission to create a vibrant, inspiring, dynamic and mature circus sector with collaboration at its heart.
Please consider applying if you have a wide knowledge of contemporary performance, love collaboration and have experience of working in a commercial setting.

First Exhibition
Last month I curated and installed my first exhibition showcasing the work of Binghamton, NY artist, Michael Celbar. Curating and installing my first exhibition at Pink Arrow Arts in Montrose PA made me really assess my current strengths and weaknesses within the gallery world. Going from intern to gallery director has been insanely stressful. Not only am I juggling every job I did before as an…
Grid Painting
This week in my painting class we finished working on our 3rd still life, I’m still not a big fan of still life’s but I do think I’m getting better at them. This still life focused on using a full palette and complimentary colors. We started it by making a 1 x 1” grid on our canvas, and sketching on top of it. This was probably the fastest I’ve been at getting proportions right for a still life…
