My artist statement for #artomatic2017, should you be interested. I'm including just the text here as well as the actual image. MY MOST WATCHED MOVIES OF THE 1980’S I love movies. Visual storytelling is something that’s always been really important to me as far back as I can remember, be it TV, comics, or film, but there’s something about movies in particular that’s always struck a chord with me. The effects and the scores, the use of the camera and the performances -- every element is important. Every element matters and contributes to the end product. Small armies of people coming together to create a 2-hour story that has impact and merit is proof that we can do great things when we work together. The drawings on display are all characters from the movies I watched most growing up. As a child of the 1990’s, the movies I saw on TV most were all from the 1980’s. Channel 5 and Channel 20 would loop the same couple dozen flicks every Saturday afternoon and I ate it up. Those and the handful of VHS’s we had at home provided the majority of my youthful film-watching. Movies are insidious and powerful and beautiful and tragic and hilarious. They pull emotions out of you you didn’t know you felt. I hope that I was able to elicit some of those same emotions in my art that I felt while watching these films as a child. -Rambo #artomatic #ilovemovies #rambozus #rambozusart #moviesofthe80s #1980smovies #raidersofthelostark #thebluesbrothers #creepshow #tradingplaces #nationallampoonsvacation #gremlins #teenwolf #legend #standbyme #themonstersquad #dirtyrottenscoundrels #harlemnights
