Duality & Pride, The Elking's son played prey and predator, and indulged in the poetry of it. Each coin dangling from his antlers was a referential tease, and he tied them on with the same pride as a child and her braids. They were gold. And birds love gold. At least, this one did. The Raptor's son. His eyes were perfect for spotting prey from above. He lauded himself for every catch, every camouflaged rodent and rattlesnake, sometimes even small dogs. Then he saw the coins. He saw how round thet were, how shiny they were. How each raised marking had a luster of its own. They dangled from threads made of sinew, threads made of twine. One coin was large. One coin was small. One coin was cleaner than the others, with fresh threading that cast the slightest of shadows on the rune etched into the metal. Thorn. The coins moved, clinking together like wind chimes. The antlers carrying them turned in the foliage slowly, revealing the auburn hair of a young buck. Not too big a beast, but not too small, either. Woosh! The bird dove with the force of a hurricane, his wings held close to his body, his feathers twisting like an arrow in flight. He readied his talons and... Spun? The hunter twisted around him like a serpent. His body hit the ground as he howled in shock. He snapped at the beast, bit at its face, thrashing in the dirt. Drew blood. Green and gold filled his telescope eyes. It was beautiful. He stopped. And... ××× I drew this during the prime hour after drinking a lot of coffee. Consider it a #pride month art piece for those of us who live in the grey land of Aces.
