Some things are just black and white. This time I printed on sheer dotted Swiss and some lovely heavyweight cotton then layered them together (that’s to first frame.) And sweet Althea gave me a couple canvas bags to print on. That’s my first one (in the last frame.) You ever feel like this? Helen Keller was a wild child rampaging through a mysterious and confusing world when, shortly before her 7th birthday, Annie Sullivan got through to her. By finger signing W. A. T. E. R. into one of her palms while holding the other under a gushing pump Helen was drawn out from the dark confinement of her deafness and blindness. Her desire to learn everything ignited. It was 1887. Seventeen years later, in 1904, she graduated from Radcliffe college with honors. Helen traveled the world advocating for human rights and authored many books. When I saw this being used in my daughter’s kitchen at a family birthday party I remembered I hadn’t photographed it yet. Her sweet step mama held it up for me. For this one I used a clear washable Elmer’s glue resist. Had to tint it pink to see where I was putting it. The colors are acrylics with GAC900 mixed in. Makes for better light-fastness and a softer hand.
