SAVE OUR SWAMP đź–¤ this costume inspired in protest of the approved and recently constructed Bayou Bridge Pipeline which cuts through the Atchafalaya Basin, the largest wetlands in the nation, endangering thousands of wetlands species and threatening the Gulf coastline and habitats which have already been deteriorating at a rate of 30 miles per year. The continued willful ignorance of state legislators and misguided use of $700 million in BP oil spill reparations from the Deepwater Horizon spill, which continues to wash ashore on the Lousiana coastline over 9 years after the initial blow, to further support and grow the oil industry on the Louisiana coast, without regard for investment in conservation or renewable energy resources. And the continually ignored and consistent leakage of the Taylor Energy site, which has been leaking between 300-700 barrels of oil PER DAY since 2004. There is no clean up. There is no end. The only way to stop destruction is to cease production! . . . #saveourswamp #renewableenergy #artinprotest #useyourvoice #savethewetlands #crudeoil #oilspill #gulfcoast #louisianacoast #gulfoil #conservewildlife #politicalcostume #mermaid #mermaidparade #swampmermaid #darkart #politicalart #darkmermaid #coneyisland #coneyislandmermaidparade #mermaidparade2019 #nolainnyc #neworleansartist #nolaartist #costumelife #paradelife #artistsoninstagram #artasprotest #themoreyouknow #politicalstatement #stopbigoil #nativeartist #femmeartist @coney.island.usa @mermaidparade (at Coney Island USA) https://www.instagram.com/p/BzOO2e_jM8-/?igshid=r3fyhlb5c0tw
