How I used to draw
Vs. how I draw now.
Oftentimes I feel like my art skill is not getting better at all. Like I'm stuck and for years didn't improve. So I thought about doing a redrawing of one of my earliest pieces. One of my Pokémon Trainer OCs! Left the original from 2010 and in the middle the redrawing now nine years later. Pretty pleased with the outcome and I think I did improve! YEY!! And then I went a step further and did draw him nine years older as well, including an updated outfit. Really happy how he turned out C:
i wanted to do a comparison of my art from the beginning, middle, and end of year! tbh im not sure if i improved- but! im glad that i became more active on Twitter! I've made many new friends! how did your 2018 go? did you improve? was it hard? #artimprovment #artistsoninstagram #digitaldrawing #digitalart #drawing #anime #animeart #animedrawing #animeartist #art #traditionalart #CriticalRole https://www.instagram.com/p/BsD00-pgGBM/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=1covfiuz11ba0

I want to know when you became an active artist, like when did you star to draw stuff like everyday?
Hm, great question!
I “became”, per-say, an active artist when I decided I wanted to get serious about my artwork, which was the beginning of this year, my year as a sophomore. This was my first year in any art class of any sort, especially by a teacher certified in the subject, so he was really encouraging and told me to take my art seriously (I also took the class seriously, even if it was just Foundations), especially if I wanted to do something with it. He told me to take it in stride, focus on one thing at one time; people first, objects second, backgrounds third. Then he said to study the light and the way shadows moved, study how things flow. I really wanted to make my teacher happy and I realized I couldn’t just squabble around and expect to be better because I was already good. I decided I’d draw something everyday. Maybe I wouldn’t be consistent; maybe I’d miss a day or a week, but then I’d just have to pull out a piece of paper and doodle something, anything. I wanted/want to get better, sitting around on tumblr all day staring at artists who did the exact thing I was lacking wasn’t going to get me anywhere.
Thanks!
