Mobile World Congress Americas Recap: Arrow Electronics, Inc. & Other Favorite Booths
A new wireless-communications tradeshow, Mobile World Congress Americas took place at the Moscone Center in San Francisco from September 12th-14th this year. CTIA, which represents the U.S. wireless communications industry and GSMA, which represents worldwide mobile operators, came together to host the inaugural event. The marquee event for Mobile World Congress each year is held in Barcelona but this year, a new additional presence in the US was added which welcomed 21,000+ people eager to learn about the latest in wireless technology and services.

Technological innovations aside, another major goal of exhibitors of the conference is to captivate and impress audiences. Making sure booths stand out and are aesthetically pleasing goes a long way and helps create foot traffic. People are impressionable so they will follow their eyes and also the crowd so it’s important to create experiences that are engaging and compelling and pull people in.Â
We at Rubik Marketing worked with global technology solutions provider, Arrow Electronics, Inc. to bring their Sensor-to Sunset Internet of Things offerings to the conference. The goal was to showcase the brand, their technological capabilities and help get their name out there. The main star of the show that Arrow wanted to display was their SAM Car, a semi-autonomous motorcar that was specifically created for quadriplegic former racecar driver, Sam Schmidt so that he could drive using his head and mouth.
The key was to allow the branding of Arrow to really pop but still have ample space for eight various demonstrations to take place. The demo stations were laid out two per pod with screens on both sides in order to maximize reach and usability. Two welcome pedestals were placed at the front of the booth so Arrow staff members had stations to stand and greet attendees into the space. The SAM Corvette served as the main centerpiece to the exhibit, while a huge overhead sign with the Arrow logo and mention of their Five Year Out campaign hung above it to pull people from a distance in.

We didn’t want to compromise the amount of space attendees had to walk around and explore the booth by having storage out in the open and on display so we got creative and built storage capabilities into the booth. Each demo station had hidden storage capabilities underneath. The booth space also featured a 10-foot high back wall with built-in closets for additional support and storage. The wall also served as a divider separating the Arrow booth from the PayJoy booth behind creating clear boundaries between the two.

When designing the booth, we made sure to stay on brand and stick with the classic black and white Arrow theme but also made sure to keep the colors bright and eye-catching. It was important for us to create a sleek design that also had a very efficient layout since the booth spaces weren’t very large in size. Being clean, functional and polished was also of top priority. Many attendees frequented the booth throughout the event and enjoyed all of the elements that we put together!
In addition to our Arrow booth, MessageBird and SoftBank Robotics & Sprint brought some fun displays to the table.
MessageBird: Climbing Into A Cloud
MessageBird built an incredible, large overhanging fluffy cloud visual as a way to show how the company stores and finds the fastest and most direct route for a user’s messages. Attendees were welcome to climb ladders and literally put their heads in the cloud. The captivating aerial visuals created the most buzz out of any booth at MCWA on various social media platforms.

SoftBank Robotics & Sprint: Pepper The Robot
SoftBank Robotics partnered with Sprint to bring their robot, Pepper into the world of retail and enterprise as a way of engaging and interacting with costumers. Pepper is highly intellectual and can discern concrete facts such as one’s gender and apparent age. She can also sense the mood of the person she is interacting with. Pepper made her debut in MWC in Barcelona earlier this year but was back to wow the US with Sprint at her side this time. She stole the show a MWCA due to her brains and her charm.
