the idea that finn and rey having a baseline mutual understanding and respect therefore makes them less compatible than two people who are complete idealogical opposites with literally nothing in common other than the fact that they’re both powerful force sensitives? f off with that garbage. 

im not saying we all have to ship finnrey now, but really???? we should’ve promoted and romanticed healthy relationships, instead of romanticising violence, violation, intimidation, and gaslighting. reylo is NOT it and i don’t care if it’s more “spicy” or “interesting” than finnrey just because there’s more conflict. 

the fact is, stable and healthy romances aren’t inherently less interesting; you don’t need to fight to reform your romantic interests, that’s not your job, that’s not what we should hold up as ideal or inspiring. you shouldn’t look at someone who’s abusive to you off the bat and think “there’s a sad person in there. i should fix this” no. run like hell to the people who already love and care about you.
