What many people don’t know about this versatile oil is that in its pure form, Cedarwood Essential oil is comprised mostly of 2 chemical families called Sesquiterpenes and Sequiterpenols. Like all chemicals our body responds to each of these in different ways. The sequiterpene (a-Cedrene) found in cedarwood has been tested for its antispasmodic properties as well as astringent properties. Likewise the Sequiterpenol (Cedrol) has been shown to have Central Nervous System (CNS) sedative (calming) properties as well as has shown activity against Gram-Positive and Gram-Negative Bacteria making (Antibacterial properties).
