alex let his head fall back against the pillows, exhaling and glancing at derek, who was sitting at the edge of his bed. derek was still shirtless, though he had pulled his boxers back on by now.

alex watched him, watched his changing expressions as they shifted to one of indifference.

"y'know, it's hard to continue this when it feels like you hate me." alex hummed, his tone soft in comparison to his usual loudness on the field.

"i don't hate you." derek mumbled, glancing at alex from the corner of his eye. his words were cold, as if he didn't really mean them— maybe he didn't.

"it feels like you do." alex shot back. derek didn't respond.

alex let out a sigh and shifted to be closer to derek, pressing a kiss to the side of his neck.

"you could atleast try to be less of a bitch.." he mumbled, the corners of his lips perking up in a small smirk, which he was glad derek couldn't see.

"shut up," derek muttered, unable to resist from letting a small smile onto his lips.

it was bittersweet, honestly, because they both knew just as well as the other that the moment they stepped into the locker room the next day, the tenderness between them would be gone.
