okay so as a canadian the number one tip i can give you is to not go outside. we will take any excuse not to go out into the cold lmao

if that isnt an option, my best advice is to layer. ensure that your outer layer is good for keeping the cold out (eg. jackets and whatnot) and that your inner layers are good for keeping the warm in (eg. sweaters)

make sure to drink lots of water, as the low moisture in the air tends to make you very thirsty. also take a thing of chapstick/lip balm/whatever its called with you. your lips will get dry otherwise which can lead to cracking and potentially bleeding.

do not go outside with wet hair if its cold. you will get sick.

road salt will stain whatever footwear you have on, and as a result you'll stain whatever you walk on, so just beware of that

please put a hat on, or at least something to cover your ears. i know it may not seem that cold, but when you've been stuck outside for half an hour and your ears are freezing you will come to regret your hubris

face masks are surprisingly good at keeping your face warm, among other things, and id highly reccomend them! if you have glasses, make sure that you put the part where they rest on your nose over the mask, so that they dont fog up

in a similar vein, if you have glasses, they will fog up when you go inside.
