random but i love that there is no love interest for grace in PHM. so so many times in media we have women meant to swoon over the male MC who does not reciprocate for one reason or another, either not noticing or having more important duties etc. i really like that even though grace makes connections with others theres never insinuated romantic tension. its especially funny in the book when stratt gets upset that theres a woman on the team because she wanted only heterosexual men on board to avoid any potential romantic or sexual tensions that could get in the way. i think stratt is also aroace because that sounds like an assumption an aroace person would make from all the shitty hetslop romance they see in media all the time.
the only conversation they have about stratt being single or whatever is the fact he lives alone with no kids and not even a pet, he has no one specifically to “die for”.
its not that he has no romance is that he has nobody. no pets, no connections with family that we know of, i dont think he even had friends now that i think about it. i think thats why his dynamic with stratt is so interesting. both of them seem like people who just dont make connections with people- making a significant connection that NEITHER of them are actually aware of because they have nothing to compare it to.
like stratt brings grace around a lot and i know its not just to keep him educated. she enjoys what he has to say and enjoys his company but i dont think she even fully realizes that. because she has such a straight edged way of thinking. like “grace has to be there.” there is no because. whenever she’s asked ANYTHING about why this or why that its always the same answer about there being no time to waste on saving the human race.
like they dont notice it but everyone else does and doesnt say anything lmao
