Okay but consider this: aromantic allosexual Nott
Aromantic allosexual Nott, who grows up Veth, who watches all of the other kids get crushes, who listens to her mother recount the story of how she and Veth’s father met a thousand times, who feels off because she doesn’t feel these things. She thinks maybe it’s a result of being an outsider. After all, how is she supposed to fall in love with anyone when everyone is so mean to her? Her mother tells her she’ll find the right person eventually, and Veth believes her.
Aromantic allosexual Nott, who kisses Yeza on a dare, and he doesn’t make her stomach swoop or knees go weak but it’s fun, and he doesn’t look at her like she’s something unpleasant. So she keeps seeing him. And it never makes her feel like her mother would describe, like the protagonists of the romance novels her father would bring home on occasion. But she cares about him, a lot, so who cares if there’s butterflies in her stomach or not? Besides, it turns out that alchemists are pretty damn good with their hands.
Aromantic allosexual Nott, who is not some knight on her way to rescue the love of her life but throws her damn acid in that goblin’s face anyways, because she refuses to let them take the two most important people to her.
Aromantic allosexual Nott, who reaches her hand out towards the dirty man sitting in her cell. Who stays with him, even when the circus happens and shit gets weird. And as time passes she feels more and more guilty when she looks at him, not because she’s using him, not because she’s lying to him, but because for some reason caring for Caleb feels the same as caring for Yeza, minus the desire. Because everytime she reaches for his hand or curls up at the foot of his bed, she can’t tell if she’s betraying something or if she’s realizing something.
Aromantic allosexual Nott, who is reunited with her husband and feels love but not the kind that Jester is always talking about. Who avoids Yeza rather than admitting it, who finds herself sitting under their gigantic lit up tree instead of laying in bed with her husband. Caduceus joins her, and in the soft hours of the dark morning, explains that some people just love in different ways but that doesn’t make it any less important or genuine.
Aromantic allosexual Nott, who relearns the rules of love until they feel right. Who finally feels at peace with at least one part of herself, who sits her husband down and explains and answers questions and at the end is held in his warm arms that aren’t going anywhere. Who laughs when Jester asks for romantic advice instead of stumbling her way through. Who cuddles between Caleb and Yeza whenever they can finally make it home, and defines her family and her love according to her rules.
(Also, she’s green. Thanks for coming to my TedTalk)
