Arn-Identified Flying Objects And Alien Friends presents: The Sparrow
It's indie folk with some psychedelic vibe
Arne Floryd says: "The chord progression on this one creates an atmosphere of melancholia and uncertainty"
It's all begin in a dream
"The melody to The Sparrow came to me in a dream. The music, mostly in minor, and the several tonal changes creates an atmosphere of uncertainty and dreamy melancholia; an atmosphere enhanced by church bells and a mellotron".
The narrator tells the story of a sparrow fighting for his life, but only to find out that the dying bird just might be the narrator himself.
It’s something of an odd bird (speaking of birds) among the songs from the new album THE KING AND THE SPARROW, but still in line with the general “feel” of the song collection as a whole.
Drummer Andreas Quincy Dahlbäck makes sure the song remains organic and “alive”.
The high-pitch voice in the phrases “Fly, sparrow fly” (in the bridge/chorus) belongs to Stefan Petersson of Mother James (and Morifade, way back when).
