Armor System for my LARP: Work in Progress
So I'm working on a wearable armor system for "Pro Ether". There will be three armor types and will be based on on game maneuverability, accessibility and product value (either the cost of materials or the cost to buy the specific armor) These are working armor classes and are subject to change but I think they are pretty good. All names are also working. How the system works is that You get extra hits to covered body parts. If you have cloth armor for your whole body that means you can be hit one extra time on covered body parts (Head, arms, legs body). That does NOT mean that you add 4 to your total hit count. Say you have body cloth armor and your hit count is the level 1, 5 hits. You can take one hit to the body before you start subtracting from your hit count (Get hit in the chest it takes the hit, second hit to the chest you subtract normally). (Since we are not allowed to hit in the head, any head armor can be used as an extra count for one of your other areas. add it to the legs or arms. This area will be specified for your character and will not change.) Once the extra hits have been counted for a specific area, getting hit in that zone will deal direct damage to your regular hit count.
FiberGuard- Basically Cloth like padded fiber materials. (Think reinforced vests and Kevlar-like hardness) OOG: Hard layered fabric materials can be used to construct or can be purchased. IG: Laser Resistant Layered Fabric Armor (Probably used by Workers but can be used for combat) [Arms: +1 Legs: +1 Body:+1 Head: +1]
Composite Armor: Padded Non-metal armor. (Think plastic motorcycle armor or BMX. Molding and DIY plastics can be used to make these if you don't want to dish out 50-100 dollars) OOG: Ballistic Plastics, Molding plastic, Craft plastic, Fiberglass. Hard plastics, rubber. IG: Layered heat resistant non-metal armor, Made of layers of different materials and strong polymers and fibers. [Arms: +2 Legs: +2 Body: +2 Head:+2]
Metal Armor: Scale or plate armor. Can be futuristic or fantasy medieval appearance. OOG: Materials can be substituted for real metal but if foam of plastic, has to be silver metallic color to distinguish from Composite armor. Actual metal. IG: Energy Treated metals. Energy resistant metals. Military Grade, High combat. [Arms: +3 Legs: +3 Body: +3 Head: +3]
This system allows for people who are pretty good fighters to not need armor if they don’t wish to wear it. But also allows you to customize your armor as you see fit based on where you as a fighter are most vulnerable. (e.g: You are slow on your feet so you armor your legs because they get hit there a lot.) Or you can always go full armor for the badass factor. Let me know what you guys think or if you have any questions.
