Collision || Armaros & Sariel
Sariel frowned to herself as she looked down at the object in her hands, it was a tarnished candelabra, the fine petina was tarnished almost beyond repair but the weight of it was solid, and told the angel that it was of fine quality. Finer quality than what belonged in Purgatory. She lifted it gingerly and turned it over in her hands, deciding whether or not it was worth the ridiculous price that the shop owner was asking for. She lifted it closer to her keen artists eyes and studied the way the gloomy light shone off the arms and caught delicately on the filigree that wound around its base.
The angel wondered, if only for a moment, how such a piece ended up here. Had it fallen off of a prince's table and into a thief's deep pockets? Or had a desperate fallen or human pet sold it off when they felt the displeasure of their keeper closing in around their neck? She sensed a kind of desperation in this piece, however it had ended up at the junk man's stall, she doubted it was with any kind of happiness or good will. At least in Sariel's hands it could be turned into something beautiful again. She would almost feel guilty when she returned to the warehouse and melted down the lovely piece, repurposing it for the grace infused jewelry and trinkets that she sold for three times the price of the original sliver. It was a lucrative albiet dangerous business, but the pay off was worth the threat of being caught (especially now that Orias seemed to be catching on) and the need to haggle in back alley shops like this one.
"You really are a crook for asking a price for this," she murmured to the dirty and toothless man who stood behind the counter, who was waiting with bated breath as Sariel decided whether or not to buy the piece. He gave her a crooked, gap toothed smile but said nothing to defend his honor. This was Purgatory; of course the prices were skewed and jacked up, how else would he make a profit? She rolled her eyes and rested the candelabra on the counter as she shoved her hand into her bag, fishing out a wad of bills, "Next time, I get a deal. For being such a loyal customer. You got that, Billy?" she stocky old man nodded with an enthusiastic grunt as he collected the money, counting it greedily before he nodded for the door without even looking up. For all he cared the transaction was over. Sariel was taking up necessary space in his shop.
Rolling her eyes she adjusted her bag over her shoulder and moved towards the door with a mutter of dirty words in Latin. Holding the piece in one hand, she shoved the rickey door open with her shoulder, stepping out into the dank alley way without a second look as to who might be lurking on the other side of the swinging door. Taking a step, she collided with some thing solid, an angry sound of surprise catching in her throat as the candelabra slid from her grip and spun with a gleam of sliver towards the grimy glistening ground, hitting the pavement with a grating 'clunk'.
"What the fuck?" Sariel gasped, the door slamming behind her as she stumbled forwards, nearly loosing her balance as she focused first on the dented piece of sliver and secondly on the person that had (in her mind) caused the collision. Swaying unsteadily on her feet, she touched her temple, looking up with a glare, for a moment forgetting about the sliver gleaming at her feet, "You really need to watch where you are going, asshole."
