CSX0516 by Stanley Short Via Flickr: Virginia Railway Express F40PH V31 trails a northbound "Santa Claus Special" through Arkendale, VA on CSX's RF&P SD on Dec. 15, 2001. Before Amtrak, RF&P was well known for its "Santa Trains." It was good to see VRE pick up the torch. V31 is a former Amtrak unit, No. 392. Much has changed at Arkendale since this was taken. There is a new interlocking located about where we see V31. Triple track is being installed between here and Cherry Hill, about ten miles to the north.
