I thought you were being dramatic and overanalyzing but you HAVE given evidence that this episode was talking about such things like this. I think people mean the way you are saying the children will translate the episode is what bothers them. Its not a masterpiece but the story is quite good. Detailed and crafted, plenty of weird creepy little details.

Yep. Personally I’ve never played them, but from what many other people have told me, DS2 is very meh compared to DS1, and I’m entirely convinced that’s the reason

DS2 changed either head writer/producer (forget which), and they demanded the game be scrapped entirely and started from scratch, i believe while trying to keep their original release date.

Outside of ME3 multiplayer, and a presumed ME:A multiplayer, there isn’t much hope. Though, the lead writer did leave, so that could be either good or bad. Hopefully not Dark Souls II bad.
