Summary:

Killua stares at his dæmon.

In a distant part of his mind, he’d known she was close to Settling. Puberty has already caused Killua to shoot up a few inches past Gon and outgrow the clothes he’d packed after leaving home. Both of their voices were deepening and Killua would be lying if he hadn’t admired Gon’s growing muscles over the past few weeks. Things were changing and that was normal, even if life felt anything but recently.

Yet despite all that, he had avoided thinking about Ariney Settling.

Yes of course! I’m so glad you like him so much, I’m going to answer you by talking about Jax AND Ariney if that’s okay ^-^

There were two ways I approached to writing daemon personalities when working on the daemon AU. The first is to have the daemon have a very different personality than their human, because their daemon is their soul and therefore reflects everything that human is feeling and thinking on the inside. This works mostly for people who hide their thoughts and feelings, like Killua. Because of that, Ariney is much more outspoken and vocal about what she (and Killua) wants and feels. They’re still similar, but personality wise Ariney is what Killua tries to mask.

And then there’s the people who wear everything on their sleeves. For those kinds of humans, their daemons would be like a second copy in many ways to their human since their human is very open and honest. This is Gon and Jax. Jax is adventurous, curious, easily excited and strangely insightful. Just like Gon. He of course is different from Gon in some ways, but he is also what Gon is feeling and thinking on the inside...Gon is just much more open about these things than Killua.

Jax also likes to change forms a lot. Ariney is very orderly and tries out a shape for a week or a day, but she rarely changes it more than once in 24 hours. Jax will try five different shapes in one minute because he wants to experience everything around him in as many different ways as possible. When he and Gon were little he would take on the forms of the animals they found in the forest, but when Gon found Kite, Jax started to explore lots of different and forein animal forms.

Ariney and Jax are always always always together after Gon and Killua become a couple, even more so than when they were just kids and best friends. They walk side by side, they lick each other, Ariney purrrrrrrrrs really deep when Jax cuddles into her side, they play fight, they lay on top of each other all the time……

To answer your questions: 

1) they touch each other’s daemons twice (once when Killua and Ariney saved Gon and Jax after Pitou, and then once more right before Killua and Ariney leave with Alluka and Poe), but yes they would definitely touch each other’s daemons again without a doubt. Gon and Killua are meant to end up together in all my aus and are pretty much soulmates in my mind, so it’s kind of inevitable they’d touch Ariney and Jax again ^-^ the next time they do it is probably when they all reunite for the first time after saying goodbye at the World Tree….

2) Ariney’s fur became white from both of those things, actually! Her fur stayed white because she was using Godspeed when she went through the trauma of seeing Gon/Jax kill Pitou.

The first thing you need to know is that a normal daemon and their human can’t travel far from each other because they are a soul and body. They’re meant to be together at all times because they’re the same being, if that makes any sense. And the further a demon and their human travel from each other the more painful it is for them both. They feel extremely sick, they have a hard time breathing, there’s a burning sensation all over their bodies……..it’s not pretty.

The Separation is essentially a forced stretching of Killua and Ariney’s bond. The Zoldycks left Ariney at a location, then took Killua away, not allowing either Ariney or Killua to go back to their other half. They separated Ariney and Killua at such a large distance that from that point afterwards, Ariney and Killua could travel extreme distances from each other without feeling the pain that normal daemons and their humans have.

But the Separation process is torturous. It feels like they’re being burned alive and drowning at the same time. It’s horrible and it hurts and there’s almost nothing equal to that level of pain at being torn away from your soul/human. So that’s why normal daemons and humans would never dream of going through the process.

You’re not late, you can always ask me anything you’d like about my aus! :D And yes, you are correct: Eichlyse can manipulate Ariney with her Nen, just like Illumi can manipulate Killua with his Nen. If Illumi is using Needles, than Eichlyse can apply her own Nen to those Needles and Illumi will throw them for her at daemons. Nen by daemons will only work against daemons, they will not work on humans. But she doesn’t always need Needles to use Nen, just like how Illumi can change his appearance for a certain amount of time without the help of his Needles. And sometimes using Nen against a human alone is enough to make their daemon submissive.
