After Work | Brody & Arielle
Brody was pleasantly tired. It was that nice kind of intellectual exhaustion that any true Ravenclaw could appreciate: when you’d been working on something or going down a path of information and making discoveries, but the whole of the experience just left you drained. It had been a good day at work, he’d inched along on some of his work with time, at least opened up some areas he hadn’t thought of before and was excited to get back to when he was rested again. The mental fatigue was in stark contrast with his physical state, which was a bit sore and cramped from being cooped up in the same room all day. He could use at least a brisk walk, if nothing else. Normally, Brody took these kinds of walks alone, though the danger of that was continuing to think about the day’s work and further exhausting his already drained mind. It was almost better if he could have a companion to listen to or at least to distract him, to let his mind rest for a while. He knew he wasn’t the best conversationalist in those circumstances but he was pretty calm (right now) and a decent listener, he figured, so he might as well try to get some company.Â
The wizard didn’t really have anyone in particular in mind when he happened upon Arielle in the hallway that lead out of the Department of Mysteries. He knew her name and not much else, other than that she was attractive. It was hard not to notice that kind of thing, especially with her, though she was also so fresh faced that she had to be quite young, much too young for Brody to reasonably be thinking that way about her. She wasn’t a child, but still, he would bet he had at least a decade on her, if not two. Be that as it may, she seemed as good an option as any and it would be a chance to get to know her better. Knowledge was power, especially in these times. He approached with a smile. “Hey, Arielle. I hope this doesn’t seem strange, but would you fancy a walk? I could use one, after being cooped up in the office all day.”
