SuperCat. President Baker Fires Cat after President Marsden resigns. Cat comes back to National City and Kara starts going to her for advice.
i gave this my best shot but i havenât seen the latest season so im just going with what i know! (plus astra and alura being on earth cause i can)
1. Cat gets CatCo back. She built it from the ground up all on her own - it was never something sheâd give up without the ability to take it back when she wanted it. Lena isnât exactly happy about losing the investment, but papers are signed and money is moved, and Cat sweeps back into her office as if sheâd never left. She fires James - she left him in charge to do run things as she wanted, not to ally himself and therefore CatCo with a terrorist organisation. Kara feels a little winded by the changes and the outrage of her friends, but she canât deny it feels good to see Cat sitting behind her desk again. Sheâs not her assistant anymore, but she brings her her favourite coffee, and a fresh packet of M&Ms, and says, welcome back. Cat smiles, one of those genuine smiles that creases the corners of her eyes, and even though she looks tired and a little sad, Kara feels warm all the way down to her toes.Â
2. CatCo feels more alive with Cat at the helm again. She repairs the damage done in her absence in a matter of days, publicly renounces any association with Liberty, and does not fire her new assistant. Itâs like she never left. Kara is a little surprised when Cat calls her into her office, and, in a very Cat like way, tells her she approves of her ideas about writing articles about aliens and praises her ingenuity. Theyâre using the very human fear of the unknown, Cat says, and Kara really has missed her passion, and itâs our responsibility to use the truth to stop them. Especially now. Kara shows her the interviews sheâs written and the ideas sheâs outlined, and dares to think Cat looks proud.
3. Kara asks her advice about Agent Liberty. She does it in a way that doesnât make her seem like sheâs asking for personal advice, but she says, everyone thinks we should talk to them. Cat purses her lips and gazes out over National City, and Kara tries not to think about how much sheâs missed these talks on the balcony. These people cannot be reasoned with, Cat says, her voice a little sharper than Kara expected, they shouldnât be given any room to stand. Kara points out that Supergirl and the DEO can hardly just lock them all up without making things worse. Cat shrugs. Then use the law. Prosecute them under our system. Your mother is an alien lawyer, isnât she? Kara almost falls through the balcony. What? Cat doesnât blink. Go bother that alien lawyer. You know her, donât you? The conversation leaves Kara reeling a little - it doesnât just give her a way to proceed, but it confirms what sheâs suspected for a long time, even if Cat didnât directly address who she is. She finds herself almost relieved by the fact that she doesnât have to pretend.Â
4. Weks later, at her usual movie night with her mother and her aunt, after the film has finished, Alura says, whereâs your cat? I was lead to believe you had one. Kara almost chokes on her hot chocolate. Beside her, Astra sniggers, turns to face them on the couch, and starts munching on the left over popcorn. Kara instantly knows the confusion is her doing. Still, it's so nice to have that teasing familiarity back that she can't bring herself to be annoyed. She explains that Cat is her boss, not her pet, and that her name is a shortened version, like Alex. Alura turns pink, and Kara fishes her phone out of her pocket to show her a photo. So she's not your Cat? Kara shakes her head. Pity. She's pretty. Astra guffaws, and Alura chucks a bar of chocolate at her head, and Kara forgets about how oddly nice it was to hear your Cat in favour of laughing. It's beyond wonderful to know that no matter how many years they've lost, her mother and her aunt still love her just as intensely, and just want her to be happy.
5. Alura wins the case against the Agents of Liberty. It makes Kara feel almost giddy, to see the victory, to feel like theyâre taking a step towards permanent change. They quieten down over the next week, and Kara bounds into Catâs office to invite her to the celebrations - a dinner with the family. Cat makes a noncommittal noise, but Kara isnât at all surprised when she turns up at the door that night, wearing something more casual than usual, and the sight of her makes Karaâs heart clench. Dinner is a haze of celebration and joy, and Kara canât even bring herself to mind the way Lucy almost drools while Alura talks about the verdict and precedents, or that Alex is practically sitting in Astraâs lap. Jâonn says something about a brave new world, one for all of them, and Kara takes her heart in her hands, and reaches under the table to grip Catâs fingers. Cat squeezes back.Â
+ bonus: later, Kara kisses Cat under the stars and tells her sheâs Supergirl. Cat scoffs, just like Kara knew she would, and says, I know. Kara tells her she loves her. Catâs smile softens, and she says, oh, I know. Kara laughs and shakes her head, and says, what is this, Star Wars? Cat makes a displeased sound. You know I havenât seen that. Kara smiles. I know. Cat kisses her back with her hands in her hair, and tells her she loves her back.Â
send me an au and iâll write 5 headcanons
Me: Gay Alura isn't too much, is it?
ifourmindbeso: I love gay Alura. Majorly Judging You is one of the best ever crackships.
Me: Sometimes I worry about making everyone gay.
Me: But then I'm like, "FUCK IT, EVERYONE IS GAY"
Me: Straight people are boring
ifourmindbeso: Yeah. It's transformative works, not heteronormative works.
Hey, do you by chance know where I can find the old Silver Age Supergirl panel which shows Zor-El and Alura naming Kara? I've seen it a few times, but the moment I actually need to refer to it, I can't find it again.
Yep! Itâs from Action Comics #314: âSupergirlâs Tragic Ordeal!â
If you need something to keep Supercat in your mind, I'm also willing to help @dhaskoi with that. I have lots of poor plot bunnies I won't have the time or energy to feed as long as the 800 pound Gorilla that is Future Shock is sitting in the middle of my living room. You can totally adopt some of them.
This is why this fandom rocks so damn much. As soon as Iâve submitted this book edit and got book 3â˛s outline into Scrivener, itâs Supercat writing time!
