For the Human as a Flower comic, there's two textual oddities.
“Are kind of a one” (I'm not sure what you meant. "Are kind of the same?")
"Our humans’ SOULs" (The SOULs belonging to humans that belong to them..but they could surely only know one human, Kris?)
Those were both intentional, yes, though perhaps a bit egregious ashdhahha
While writing this comic, I was really struggling with Flowery’s dialogue. Since it was largely a sincere and expositional moment, it felt right for him to speak more plainly as he does when he’s explaining plantners or being socratic towards Ralsei. But at the same time, I worried I was losing some of the charm of Flowery’s speech, his plant puns and misused idioms and poor grammar and the like. So I sprinkled in the examples you saw above!
“Kind of a one” is meant to be an inversion of “one of a kind”— something thats all the same. I like it because even when flipped it kind of makes literal sense in a… very, very loose sort of way. Or maybe not at all lol. It’s just supposed to be a jacked up floweryism that doesnt make sense but the meaning (hopefully) gets across. I definitely knew deep in my heart though that it probably wouldn’t make sense to anyone ahshah. Its just my specific style of funny rhetorical language that I always try to get to work but people always tell me to cut because they don’t make sense to anyone else, alas. Probably would’ve been better to keep out in hindsight 😔
“Our humans’ SOULs” is an intentional grammatical error, like Yellow’s “play with gun’s” or Flowery’s “flower’s blooms in your heart.” My closest guess as to intended meaning would be “our souls which l belong to humans ” but it definitely is not grammatical or at least sensical. I can definitely see how it would trip somebody up for sure.
So yeah, those were just the effect of my overly confident and overly colorful writing style, lol. I still feel a little conflicted about how I handled flowery’s dialogue in this comic, and these would probably be some of the first things I change. Hopefully they didn’t disrupt the comic too much!
