It isn’t hard to tell that she is suspicious of his actions. Should the roles be reversed, he might be too. After all, Geralt isn’t used to kindness either. Any help he’s ever gotten usually ends in betrayal or someone wanting to use him.
“Don’t mention it.” He doesn’t need her thank you, he only needs to make sure she is safe. Completely safe. Until morning, at least. He nods his head in the direction east of them. “I’ve set up camp this way.”
SHE WAITS until he takes a few steps before she follows, ignoring the pain still coursing through her leg. walking isn’t helping to ease it, but she’s stubborn and she’ll keep moving anyway. with the abuse she puts her body through it’s a wonder it hasn’t given out on her yet. rayne is careful to keep the majority of her weight on her right leg as a manner of relieving as much of the pain as she can. it’s moments like this she wishes she was near any town or village. a drink does wonders when it comes to taking the edge off.
❝thanking you is the least i can do considering i’m more likely to be dead if you hadn’t come along.❞ he has no obligation to help her, yet here he is.
