she’s  only  ducking  into  the  hq  uninvited  to  grab  something:  kate  bishop  had  borrowed  a  favored   leather  jacket  of  nico’s  and  forgot  to  return  it.  she’d  told  nico  where  the  spare  key  was,  but  nico  enjoyed  the  exercise  in  thwarting  the  young  avengers’  defenses  on  her  own.  even  without  the  staff,  magic  still  surges  through  the  veins,  and  when  she  points  the  index  finger  of  her  left  arm,  once  metal  witcharm,  now  replaced  with  regrown  flesh  and  blood,  at  the  door,  the  veins  glow  and  the  lock  shatters.

“kate?”  nico’s  moving  from  room  to  room.  she  needs  that  jacket:  just  because  karolina’s  gone  (temporarily,  gone  temporarily)  doesn’t  mean  nico  can  let  her  fashion  sense  go  to  shit.  “cassie?  billy?”  who’s  on  the  team  these  days,  anyway?  is  billy  still  in  space?   “hello?” 

when  she  sees  alex,  the  fight  part  of  her  fight-or-flight  response  is  immediate.  nico’s  already  levitating,  her  eyes  glowing  slightly  with  power  and  rage.  “what  the  fuck  are  you  doing  here,  wilder?”  trying  to  hide  her  shock,  black-painted  lips  twist  into  a  bitter  sneer.  “found  another  team  to  betray?  and  here  i  thought  we  were  special.”
