reminiscing on when i got to study greek art for my classics course, falling in love with the sculptures and realising how deep my love for art ran.
stu-dna october challenge | day eight
āhow do you plan?ā
iāve recently started using the notion app to plan my days and organise all my little mental notes, and itās honestly changed my life.
ft. studying classics before my test this afternoon

some things that boys ought to know about girls:
- some of us wear pads, others wear tampons, others wear menstrual cups or menstrual underwear. some switch between them.
- it blows my mind that i have to say this but no, pads are not attached to our vagina. theyāre pressed onto the inside of our underwear.
- itās important that you get the specific pads/tampons we ask you for, if you can. they are all very different and tailored to suit. most of us bleed heavily. a liner is not going to cut it. if youāre not sure, ask, but otherwise a regular flow (WITH WINGS if itās a pad) is usually a safe bet.
- girls can be toxic and abusive too. you are valid. if she hits, threatens, belittles, manipulates, or gaslights you, that is abuse. it is not normal behaviour or treatment.
- no means no. when she says it, and when you do. you are allowed to say no. women can be rapists too.
- some of us want and like sex. we are not āslutsā. some of us donāt want or like sex. we are not āprudes.ā
- if a girlās nudes get leaked, donāt you dare shame her for sending them. shame the guy who leaked them. if anyoneās life will be ruined, it should be his, for nonconsensual distribution of pornography.
- we donāt want to open our phone to pictures of your dick.
- your misogynistic jokes are not funny. we also do not care about what you think a girl āshouldā be or wear or act, nor what they āshould notā.
- if she takes the pill for you, do not make light of or take advantage of it. it is a literal depressant. it messed with our hormones and emotions like crazy. do not think we are taking it just for the sake of it.
- not everyone takes the pill for sex. it can also be taken for medical reasons, including to regulate/control her period.
- if she has cramps, your pity and a cuddle will not help. depending on the pain level, she will likely be irritable and angry. donāt get angry in return, be patient. try to understand the pain sheās in. make sure sheās changed her pad/tampon/cup recently, get her a hot water bottle or heat pack and a painkiller, make sure sheās as comfortable as possible and do what she asks.
- do not expect us to make ourselves small for you.
- no matter what we are wearing, it is not consent. you have no right to catcall, stare at, harrass or touch us.
- we do not wear makeup for you. we do not care what you think.
- if you try to tell us ānot all menā, you are immediately one of those men. we have to generalise our fear and anger towards men because we do not know who is safe and who is not. we are at genuine risk of being harrassed, raped, kidnapped or killed whenever we go out alone, so donāt you dare belittle us for it.
- if one of your friends leaks a girlās nudes, catcalls her, harrasses her or rapes her, do not defend him out of loyalty, no matter if you know you would never do anything like he did so youāre a āgood guyā. you are just as bad if you choose to brush it off or stay loyal to him.
- sex is not just about you.
- on that note, learn the female anatomy.
- protect your female friends on nights out. if she asks you to, pretend to be her boyfriend or call her when sheās walking. a lot of the time the only way to make a man back off is to use another man - for example, āi have a boyfriendā works, but āiām not interestedā doesnāt.
- be a feminist. feminism literally means equal rights for all genders. the āman-haterā narrative has been fed to you by misogynists. equality for women does not mean oppression for men. to be a feminist is to be a decent fucking human being. we should all be feminists.
- just because sheās bisexual doesnāt mean she wants a threesome.
- no, you canāt turn her straight. if anything you just assured her of how gay she is, and now she despises you.
- let girls love themselves. to be proud of her body and love herself fully is perhaps the biggest act of patriarchal defiance.
thank you, now go forth a little wiser :)
p.s. boys if you have any questions, it doesnāt matter how weird or gross, please feel free to ask me! either dm or askbox :) there is a whole lot neither sex ed or our mothers taught us!!! itās 100% okay for you to ask me anything, as long as itās from a place of genuine curiosity and desire to learn and improve :)
dark academia | the days are all one now.
falling asleep on top of your bed, still half-dressed; shoes off, shirt unbuttoned, hanging off your form as you sleep. being woken up by the sunlight streaming in, and becoming suddenly aware of your bare chest in the sobering daylight. wondering if anyone could have come in while you were unconscious, suddenly feeling too vulnerable and quickly covering up, layering an extra cardigan to compensate. going downstairs and brewing coffee in an chipped, white mug with an initial on it that isnāt yours. carelessly shuffling into your fatherās shoes in the hallway and slipping out of the front door to greet the sunrise. finding yourself wondering if heād notice if you snuck into the garage and stole one of his cigarettes. itās too risky, you tell yourself. not worth the cancer or what heād do if you got caught. heading back inside once there is only a black ring left in the mug and your face is pinched with cold; itās nowhere near warm enough to be outside so early. standing in the bathroom upstairs, not bothering to turn on the lights and finding the room basked in a strange blueish light that youāre not used to. smudges of mascara have found their way into the creases under your eyes. filling the basin with cool water and, removing the extra layers and unbuttoning your shirt, passing it over your skin in an attempt to revive yourself and clean away the evidence of a poor nightās sleep. your parents donāt know about the bottle of whiskey kept under your bed that you stole from them out of spite after an ancient argument. they certainly donāt know you spent the previous night getting drunk off it and plastering your walls with theories and plots and concepts for your novel. although they might figure it out if they see you like this. that wouldnāt do. running your hands through your hair and slicking it back with the water, then brushing your teeth and inspecting them in the mirror, frowning because they, ever so stubbornly, refuse to turn properly white. at your desk in your room, a glass rests atop some books for your literature class. your laptop sits open and when you wake it, what seems like a thousand messages demanding your work pop up on the screen. sinking into your chair and turning the pages of one of your many notebooks. a quote from wilde is scrawled across the top of the page. you donāt remember writing it. losing yourself in hours and hours of literature work, analysing one of hardyās poetry collections. there are other things you need to do for your other classes: classics is demanding three more essays about the francois vase, and psychology wants you to teach yourself an entire new topic in an hour. people around the house have started making too much noise and you pray they will leave you in peace. somebody is yelling down their phone in the room beneath yours. finally finishing your work and collapsing into the chair in the corner of the room, coffee and journal in hand. falling asleep at a peculiar hour and waking up the next morning somewhat disconcerted, only to do it all again.
