this Arctosa got very wet from the rain, hid under a rock in an attempt to be less wet, and when i lifted said rock it just stood there with no idea what to do. an animal that constantly looks like it's about to start sobbing uncontrollably should not have to put up with all this. how much more pathetic could you be

Razer Arctosa PC Gaming Keyboard Review

If you are serious about gaming there are so many accessories out there to chose from to maximise your gaming experience; some enhances your game play and some just simply doesn’t.  Console gaming differs very much to PC or Mac gaming as for example PC gamers can have a better experience if they have the complete setup, so a powerful PC, Gaming Keyboard and Gaming Mouse just to name a few.

What we recently got in for review is a Gaming Keyboard from Razer; from Razer’s history in building gaming devices and the sort of team they have with previous gaming experiences themselves, we expected nothing but high performance.

Design

The keyboard is relatively light and flat although you could raise it up a little higher using the two legs located on either sides of the keyboard.  The first think you would notice is how soft it feels when you hit the keys, which is vital for prolonged gaming action.  The keyboard also has a stealth look to it because the keys are discrete until you shine a light unto it reflecting the keys.  It has no backlight so it will be useless for use as a regular keyboard mainly at night unless you are very good at touch typing. It also has a set of media keys in the upper right-hand side.

Inside  the box you’ll find an instruction manual, driver CD and a “Certificate Of Authenticity”, so if you don’t find one of those certificates in the box, you could be using a fake version although it would be rare to find a fake one because Razer products are mainly available via reliable channels with no price difference from the sources like eBay so you are better off just purchasing directly from Razer.

Installation and Performance

Installation is very easy with initial use via USB ; it supports Windows XP and Vista in both 32- and 64-bit editions out of the box and for this review we did not try to use it with Windows 8.  Once you are ready, you will need to pop in the CD included in the packaging which then allows you to install/download firmware required for your system.  You can also go as far as modifying buttons in terms of reaction to keystrokes.

With Arctosa’s Hyperesponse™ Technology it gives a notebook keyboard-like experience with how flat it looks and feels which does help with using it for a long time and on the technical side, it reduces latency and response times problems which is essential for any gamer. Razer’s anti-ghosting feature allows better accuracy also.

Conslusion

If you are planning to use it for multiple games you can also set profiles and that is a bonus, however besides those features, how light is is the Arctosa is a great gaming keyboard but lacks the backlighting which can be a problem but other options are available with backlight or simply get the silver version.
