Y’all Heavens Vault came out today on Steam and console (and even some mobile devices!) and I’m here to tell you all, this is a real good game. Do you like beautiful art? How about engaging characters? Ancient civilisations? Language? Mysteries? Robots? Beautiful designs? No matter what you like this game has it all.
The basic premise of the game is that you play as this lady
Aliya Elasra, a grimy and sometimes reckless archeologist who travels the skies in her small, slightly frowned upon and semi illegal ship, visiting the moons of the nebula and collecting artifacts. She’s been instructed by her university to find a missing roboticist, and in the process has to decode an ancient language (guys!! They made a whole entire language for this game!! It’s both beautiful and super interesting from a linguistic perspective), figure out an ancient mystery surrounding the last emperor and The Loop, their society’s religion basically, and face the fact that if you buy a gecko it will try to run away, all while accompanied by her new glorified babysitter, Six
The environments are beautiful, the plot is intriguing, the language is fascinating, and the characters are engrossing. There are actual rivers in the sky, guys. I’m not joking. You think I’m joking?
The language is gorgeous and eventually becomes something you really understand. It’s so well developed you start knowing what groupings say by instinct. Because it makes sense.
And the character designs are amazing. As if Aliya wasn’t good enough, look at Sya!
Look at Oroi!
She’s a queen and I love her!
Point being, I’m only a few hours into this game and I’m in love, it’s beautiful and please check it out! Small studios deserve more love, and this game is definitely an example of that.
