Yes, I guess there is always the chance she’ll come back home. The pet store is only about a mile up the road. She just randomly showed up at my doorstep Thursday night and she ended up coming back to my apartment four times before I was finally set on keeping her. My friend’s over here staying at the moment, and he opened the door and she wouldn’t come. But anytime I would go to the door, she’d rush up the stairs and back into the house.
So... maybe she’ll come back. But if she doesn’t there’s always the chance she’s taken care of somewhere else. I mean, she did jump out and away around a pet store. There were a lot of people and animals there, mainly dogs. I figured she was going to get scared. I tried to hold onto her securely but cats don’t care much for being confined at all. It was probably a mix of things. If she doesn’t come back I wouldn’t blame her. I’m kinda struggling with money now, though, since I bought her a lot of things to make her feel at home.
I put her bowls outside. I was going to get her a pet fountain because she wouldn’t drink from the water bowl without swatting at it. People said it was because she preferred moving water, something intriguing to catch her attention. So that was what I was going to do. And I didn’t want to leave her alone with the rabbits quite yet. Because... rabbits, but also because she hadn’t been seen by a vet to make sure she wasn’t sick or anything. I just know she was a stray and I’ve only had her in the house for about 24 hours permanently. She wasn’t used to anything. She was really sweet and didn’t really harm anyone or anything. She loved me to pieces when she was here and calm. I guess it’s just startling and the attempt made was just too much. She scratched us up pretty bad and it took half an hour to take care of all the scratches and disinfect. She wasn’t good with a big group of people and animals. I thought maybe the company might help, but maybe it just made things worse. Nutmeg’s a good cat, wherever she is.
Maybe she will come back. Maybe she won’t. I just hope whatever happens, she ends up okay.
