Today was a busy day! First i started my plan to try to get the MEXT scholarship next year, so i took a free TOEFL simulation test. I guess I went pretty well, my reading was C1 and the rest was B2, which as far as I’m aware is enough to pass the test. Of course, I’ll try to get better scores anyway, but that’s pretty good! After, i started reviewing what i learned of japanese during the time i took formal classes at the embassy program. I still remember a lot of stuff actually, that was a good surprise!

After all this study section, i went to my local Hillel to attend shabbat dinner and the jewish book club, which I now also help to maintain! I’m not religious, so it was a little awkward during the shabbat ceremony, but the rabbi was very nice and gave a beautiful speech to us about the importance of persistence. It really resonated with me, with everything going on. The dinner was amazing as usual, and the book club was really deep. We read Maus, by Art Spielgeman, and oh boy, it was a ride. We had a lot of very emotional conversations about jewish legacy, resistance, resilience and memory. I almost cried a little lol it was a very powerful and beautiful moment for me. שבת שלום! ❤️

I think I’ll always post about my weekend only on Sunday, cuz usually I don’t do a lot…

Yesterday I only went to practice. It was pretty good actually! My best friend also taught me some things about astrology! It was really cool, we did it while I tried to read my own map. I’m thinking about asking her to really teach me about it.

Today was a little more busy. During the morning, I did some more review of Japanese basic vocabulary. Then, I had the first official practice as part of the international team (a team that will compete in Chile in December) and apparently I have a fix stunt already! I’m really happy with the stunt and the team, we are vibing really well! We even created our team calling (“Lady! Diamonds! Chicaaaaaaas”, it’s cuntier when you see us doing). I’m also trying to motivate my friends so we can start planning our trip, cuz after the competition we are thinking about staying in Chile for 5 days. It was also the birthday of one of our teammates and her parents made a surprise for her! We all showed to practice in pink (the coach told her it was for doing promo material), which is her favourite colour, and her parents sent this HUGE red-velvet pink glittered cake! After all that, I went home to study a little more and read some pages of my Japanese History book. I’m still in the beginning of Ancient Japan, but the history is already really intriguing! Now I’m doing my schedule for the week and it’s basically that!

Today was such a good day! I went to college to have class and FINALLY had a meeting with my new advisor and I’m going to do my conclusion work about brazilian tornadoes! I’m so happy!

After I went back to my city (my college is in another town near mine) and studied a little at a coffee shop drinking this delicious chai latte in the pic! Then I decided to walk around downtown a little cuz I saw a bookstore close to the coffee and wanted to try to find some books for my study. Unfortunately, the Geography section in all of them was soooo small and didn’t have any climatology books. But I found two hidden jewels: a lovely leftist bookstore called Leonardo da Vinci, founded in 1954; and this secondhand bookstore called Berinjela (Eggplant in portuguese. Don’t ask me, dunno why LOL). Inside the secondhand one, I found a section of books in english and I found this edition of Picture of Dorian Grey! I almost cried when the bookseller said the price: only 10 reais (usually a portuguese book in brazil is up to 50 reais and imported books can be up to 100 reais). It’s my first physical book in english and I can’t wait to read it!

Happy Shavuot! Honestly, i’m a terrible jewish cuz i always forget every holiday and I only remember when my hebrew teacher sand us chag sameach or something lol. But let’s start from the beginning.

Today i wasn’t that awake by morning, so when my dog asked me to lay down in my bed with me, i pulled him up. Usually i keep an eye on him when he is up here with me ti when he wants to go down to the floor or when i’m getting sleepy cuz my little buddy is LITTLE (he’s a maltese puppy, only 3 kg) and my bed is too high for him… The thing is, I fall asleep while petting him and he jumped out the bed by himself. He seems to be fine – he doesn’t seem to be limping or in any kind of pain – but that scared the shit out of me.

By noon I studied brazilian history, and honestly? It was kind of boring… I really like history, but for public service exame? meh, a little lame. After that i went to my hebrew class and that was when i figured out that we were celebrating shavout! My morah prepared corn cake (which is a traditional food in brazil for other folk festival called festa junina) and the school provided us a lot of fancy cheese, grapes, kiwi, bread and spreads. It was really delicious! We are now learning about adjectives, which work really similar to brazilian portuguese, so i think it’s gonna be just fine. And apparently, we were able to manage the class from starting 8 pm to start at 7pm! This is gonna be great, cuz my morah and I were getting at home pass 10 pm 😵‍💫 with the class beginning early, we will probably be at home around 9:30pm now

What a day lol I have to be honest, my attention was totally fucked up today, so costal class wasn’t that productive. But the studies for the public service’s test were! It’s almost too easy, sometimes I think maybe I’m doing something wrong (yeah, impostor syndrome, i know). After some hours my focus went full dead again so I decided to walk around downtown and went to the old Justice Palace. It has a art gallery, but unfortunately the exhibition wasn’t ready to open, so I just enjoyed a moment of peace alone in a photo gallery which was empty. I went to hebrew class after that and my morah brought her little daughter! She’s such a sweet and smart kid ❤️

I had a small panic attack after arriving home, so I’m taking a time to relax. But that was how my day went! :)
