Architectural elevation for The New Zion Baptist Church in New Orleans - circa 1948.
MarĂa Isabel de Braganza as founder of the Prado Museum (1829). Bernardo LĂłpez Piquer (Spanish, 1801-1874). Oil on canvas. Museo Nacional del Prado.
On the table are elevations of the rooms with the placement of the paintings. This detail must surely be interpreted as evidence of the Queen's rather more than superficial interest in the museology of the Prado. Unfortunately, she did not witness the opening of the Museum, which took place almost a year after his untimely death. Sensitive in the interpretation of the character and his special cultural role, careful in the organization of the composition and in the representation of objects and textures, Bernardo has left an emblematic image for the history of the Museum.

Raimund Abraham, Delancey Tower, (2005)
An unrealized project by Abraham for a structure on Delancey Street on the Lower East Site of Manhattan.
"In what direction is architecture moving? Architecture moves toward itself to dissolve in itself. To become speechless for the sake of silence, Yet filled with the desire to signify it’s solitude. Silent, unknown, sign. In the written image: Immutable. In the drawn image: unspeakable. In the built image: uninhabitable. The mystery of these images becomes the myth of the journey of architecture. And the odyssey of the imaginary inhabitants Who attempt to decipher them."
-Maurice Blanchot, ”The Song of the Sirens”
(Quoted by Abraham in his essay, “Speechless”, first published in: Exhibition Catalogue: Grenzliien/Borderlines, Technical University of Graz, Austria, (1989))
