13 - do you write character-driven or plot-driven stories?
you know i was just thinking about this earlier today and i am not sure? i am usually drawn to character-driven shows (or rather i stay for characters and not really because of the plot) and i think my past novels/stories had decent ideas behind them, but the plot might not have been that well executed. also, when i write drabbles and fic, i believe it’s much more dialogue-heavy and i would say character-driven too.
all in all, i’ve no idea oop~
16 - would your story work better as a movie or tv show? why?
the one i’m going to be writing for nano this year would be better as a movie, i believe. full circle and all. previous ones, too. well, the edge of light would’ve been a decent sci-fi/fantasy tv show, too… had i ever finished it……………………..
33 - do you flesh-out characters before you write, or let their personalities develop over time?
i never flesh them out beforehand. ne. ver. i create characters in lots of ways and never follow the same pattern. sometimes i’ll have their physical appearance in my mind and the dialogue would appear out of nowhere and i just start getting to know that character through situations, feelings and thoughts.
other times, i’ll only know their zodiac sign. i shit you not.
sometimes i’ll know what a character does for a living and how they’d respond to other people, but i never make a full plan for characters before writing. i love the fact they grow in front of me.
meeting your characters can be pretty overwhelming - especially when they start having lives of their own and you try to make them do something and they just won’t, you’re like i’m the writer here, not you!!! but then you let them and it’s both exciting and beautiful.
wow, these were some good questions. thanks darlin’!
