Happy birthday!
Thank you so much!Â
If we’ve already created Anders-positive meta in the past that we would like to share that week with everyone, can we submit it here? If I reblogged it and tagged it, it wouldn’t show in the search tag since it’s not a brand new post.
yeah tag us! or submit is on too! (when i made a pre announcement post about this week the tag didnt work but now it does yay! one of the admins will see it!)

Am I taking a video game too seriously if I read...
More like just seriously enough…
How do you mean?
For the ask meme: 10, 19, 22 please!
Thank you so much! :D
(From this meme)
10. Do your protagonists share the same opinions on the Chantry?
Adrina Hawke and Ethel Trevelyan both believe that while the current Chantry has a LOT of problems, it could potentially be changed to something better. Deirdra Surana would be way more content with just tearing the whole thing down and starting over from scratch.
19. What is the biggest difference between your protagonists?
(And this is where I realize I need to develop them more because they suddenly seem way too similar.)
Probably their relationship with their families?
Sometime after the Fifth Blight, Deirdra locates her parents in Kirkwall. She gets them a place in Amaranthine (being the Arlessa has to be good for something), and they get along quite well. She makes sure to regularly visit them and make sure they have everything they need. Deirdra also considers the Ferelden Grey Wardens her 2nd family, even when they don’t always agree with her, and she’s always looking out for them.
Adrina became the family protector/leader, once her father died, and it became a bit of a burden, even though she loved them. (On his deathbed, her father made her swear to look after them; sometimes she resents him for it.) Her and Bethany had a close relationship that became strained following the Deep Roads exhibition (where Bethany became a Grey Warden). They started writing letters after the incident with Corypheus (which I always play at the beginning of Act III), and their relationship is recovering, to the point where they tease each other good-naturedly in Inquisition (where Bethany is the GW contact in my non-gameplay canon). Adrina’s relationship with her mother became extremely strained following her father’s death, and pretty much broke after Carver died. Her and Carver had a friendly rivalry, and his death is one of her greatest regrets.
Ethel is the 2nd of 4 children, but she only gets along with her twin brother, Robin. He’s her best friend, even though they’ve only seen each other once a year for over a decade (during her yearly family visit for First Day; the only time she got to leave the Ostwick Circle). The rest of Ethel’s immediate family toe the Chantry line (especially re:magic), and by Inquisition she only speaks to them when forced to. Her relationship with her family outside Robin is practically non-existent.
22. Would you ever ship any of them together?
…that is a really weird thought to me? I don’t know if it’s because of the time difference between the games, but Deirdra feels so much older than Ethel even though they’re the same age, and I can’t imagine Adrina with anyone other than Merrill. :P So probably not.

For the DA protagonist meme: 2, 11, 25
2. What would your Hawke generally think of your warden and yourInquisitor?Â
Mara reallyadmires Neria for being a mage who was able to use her powers to defend people. She listens to every story about the Hero of Ferelden that she can. She badgersAnders quite a bit about it as well. She ends up naming her daughter Neria inthe original’s honor.
Mara would be abit more wary of Kirstin at first, as Kirstin is far more Andrastian than Marais comfortable with. She would warm up to Kirstin after finding out that thereason that Kirstin went to the conclave was to try to find her brother who wasa mage. They would bond over taking care of their younger siblings.
11. Do your protagonists share the same opinions on magesrights?
Yes, in that they believe that mages should be free and theCircles don’t work, but for different reasons.
Neria lived it. She lived with the knowledge that thearmored people who might look at her in disinterest would be willing to killher without a second thought. That there was a chance that someone she sawevery day might never be seen again, and no one would ever know what happened. That no matter how good of a mage she tried to become, there were people whowould rather she never stepped outside again.
Mara lived with the fear that she, her father, and sister, would be tore away from their family and locked away for the rest of theirlives, and the only way to prevent that was to run and hide who they reallywere. She took pride in the abilities that she had, but it was a pride that hadto be kept a secret. It wasn’t until later, in Kirkwall, that she was able tobe more open about it with people like her friends. However, she would stillrather keep her head down around people in power, because they have the abilityto destroy not only her, but the people she cares about. Eventually she came torealize that no matter what, you can’t always change things by keeping yourhead down and trying to work within the system, that sometimes you have tofight.
Not being a mage herself, Kirstin could only really go on whatshe was taught by the Chantry and her family, until her little brother wasdiscovered to be a mage and taken to the Circle. She believes in the Makerfirmly enough, but she can’t believe that he would want families torn apartlike that. She doesn’t believe that any magic can be as evil as what any normalperson will do out of fear.
25. What is/was their relationship with their family like?
Neria grew up with her family in the Denerim alienage. Therewasn’t a lot of resources to go around, but they did the best they could withwhat they could get. She was taken to the Circle at a pretty young age, so shedoesn’t have very many memories of her parents. When she is finally able toreturn to the alienage, she finds out that her parents died some years ago dueto sickness. She does discover that she has a younger sister, and they are ableto start building a relationship after the Blight is taken care of.
Knowing that they might have to drop everything at the dropof a hat to flee, and that they could only truly rely on each other, Mara’srelationship with her family was both very close and sort of strained with the responsibilitiesof being responsible for their health and well-being, especially after Malcolmdied. She is intently loyal to her family, both those of blood and those ofchoice. Her greatest wish is just for somewhere peaceful to live surrounded byher family and friends, without fear or having to hide.
Kirstin was taught to protect her family, both by defendingtheir safety and their place in society. Her family’s honor is important toher, but their actual safety is paramount. When she believed she could find heryounger brother by going to the Conclave, she volunteered/ran away to be theTrevelyan representative, no matter the familial scandal it might cause. Herparents pretend to be angry about it in public, but are secretly relieved.
This was really fun!
archer-and-anders mentioned you in a photoset
@palecrepegold It wasn't on the kinkmeme. He started by just saying it wasn't Dragon Age. Then we begged him to tell us the fandom (it's a book/movie series), and he wouldn't tell us the pairing because it'd be too easy to find. But it was apparently smutty and is up on A03 somewhere. Unfortunately the series is like...the most popular one ever, so chances of finding it are basically zero.
Aah, too bad! I mean, I’d likely read what he wrote for another fandom too, just to see how he did it. But the idea that whatever fanfic he wrote was for the da kinkmeme is like the holy grail of internet fandom shit I care about.
