2: What scene did you first put down?
the very first scene written was the first scene in the story, which is a super boring answer, I’m sorry! sometimes I’ll get an idea for a scene and write that down, then start building the story around it. but ten lashes began as an entirely different idea (and then rapidly evolved into what it is now pretty much from the moment I hit post on chapter 1). so it started from the start, basically!
11: What do you like best about this fic?
I actually loved being able to explore that these two people both had significant trauma in their lives, and both had learned to deal with it in completely different ways, and rather than focusing on whether those ways were right or wrong, instead look at how it informed their behavior.
also honestly I loved having shaw so off center because of everything that had happened and being forced to confront things he wasn’t necessarily prepared for. it made the moment he slips back into Spymaster Shaw during the fight with morris so much more badass, imo.
okay to be fair I liked basically every part of this. 😂 there weren’t many moments in the story when I wasn’t having the time of my life writing it. I still consider this one of the best experiences I’ve had working on a story (which is why I’m like sequel sequel sequel! at myself all the time).
