My main world I call arcae, sharing a name with the place it takes place in

It is a habitable zone for lesser beings (humanoids) in the middle of it is the spire a mountain that spikes into the heavens. The further from the spire you get the more wild and magical the world gets till you reach the edge

There are 5 species in arcae, humans, masonians, arborites, beast kin and Jakral. Each holds dominance over a continent but there is some intermixing (though the masonions don’t really do that) but there is also the greater beings of the draconics and the fae

Every living thing in this world lives off magic but not everyone has the extra magic to safely spell craft (I have a doc on the system if your interested)

First off in my world souls are just tightly wound magic shaped by the living things life. Every living thing has a soul but things like plants and insects have weak easily bipassed souls while fae and dragons have powerful almost unbeatable souls.

Second a living soul is very hard to bypass or affect while a dead soul is much easier. Plants and weaker animals can easily be charmed and controlled, animals larger than say a rat put up more resistance, mortals require a lot of power or skill to control and greater creatures are a legendary feat

Thirdly dead souls are the pattern left behind after a thing has died. Only mortals and occasionally animals leave behind remnants. Dead souls cannot learn or change as they are only the left behind memory of the living

This group carefully divides its followers into the two sects to keep them even. The lunar sect is active at night and has the second most comprehensive lunar calendar and holds special ceremonies depending on where the moons are when they’re full.
