happy days usually pass by quicker than he'd like, and he almost forgets that it was normal for it to happen. he could only heave a sigh when he realized that the festival was soon coming to a close for the day. with donghyuck spending time with their other friends, jaemin opts to make his exit. but not until he remembers that he asked yujin to meet up a few hours ago. not that he was sure she was at the festival at the time, still he sent the message he'd rarely used these days since donghyuck came into the picture.

earlier today, he typed 'it'd be nice if today lasted forever' before hitting send, mindlessly. he wasn't sure if it was something he should have done considering the festivities. today was meant to be enjoyed. but she would understand, she always does. now, he's sitting on a nearby bench by the exit, scrolling through his phone and waiting for her to come. he hadn't talked to yujin in a while, things like this usually don't change how much he cared about her. but now, he's thinking if he should conclude both their days with what has been troubling him.

it was a world of firsts for jaemin when donghyuck came into a the picture. he would not have gone to any place that required for him to be around people. he spent most of his time at home, by himself. should there be a need to socialize, it was kept brief and to a minimum. he liked the idea of his boyfriend making him change for the better, become someone who wasn't held back by anything. sure, he did whatever he wanted, but he always opts not to pursue activities if it seemed convenient.

like halloween for instance, before donghyuck, he'd rather not be in a costume because it seemed childish and troublesome. and he didn't even want to get started about all the people they had to bump into, and possibly acquaintances they had to make small talk with and compliment for the efforts they put in for their costume (if they were wearing any, if not, listen to their explanation why they didn't). this time, he sincerely thought it would be fun, spending it with donghyuck and their friends would be better.

he wanted today to be special, wanted things to be as relaxing as they could -- even if that was close to impossible with all the festivities happening. something about today felt like it was going to different, that jaemin wouldn't be as annoyed with the world as he usually is when they're in crowded places. it was a festival, and a fun one at that -- or so the advertisements say. he liked to think that it would be so he made sure he had extra patience tucked in his pocket for the day. there was so much happening, and he doesn't know where to focus on first. but of course, something is bound to happen to make sure that isn't the case for very long.

it wasn't everyday that jaemin bumps into someone he admires. and not just the kind that he'd greet, compliment, and walk away from. no. right now, he's standing next to someone who's been making him question his undying love for han yejin. he's standing next to kim hyuna. he's trying his best to act as normal as he could, trying not to shake too much. but how the heck was he supposed to do that when she's just right there? jaemin takes a deep breath, takes a quick sip from the fruit punch he had at hand a he tried to breathe, tried

today was going to be a good day, that's what he assured donghyuck. it's not everyday that he'd say yes to go to a festival, one that would have people of all ages attending. he wasn't big on events like this, but it wouldn't hurt to try something new. it would be a fun experience, he liked to think. and besides, it was another day to be spent out in the sun, would do both of them to go and get some sun.

after sometime, jaemin realized that it wasn't so bad. it was actually fun, lots of bright colors, laughter, and bubbles. but no surprise there, it is a bubble festival after all. no one would believe if he said that he was passing up on group studies and hakwon to go to a festival. na jaemin would not be caught dead in these kind of events. and yet here he is, a huge smile on his face as he made his way through the crowd, actually saying 'excuse me' and not rolling his eyes when some kid bumps into him or scoffing when he hears girls giggling in packs.

jaemin was not the kind of person who put too much effort on his appearance. he liked to think that if someone was attractive, they don't have to do so many things to be just that -- they just are. and an naturally attractive person doesn't think too hard about doing crazy things. and that's probably one of the few thoughts that were swimming in jaemin's mind when he said yes to taking the extra bottles of hair color home because apparently, the club bought too much. rather than being disposed of -- waste of money, in his opinion -- might as well just use it. he is looking to change things up lately, maybe make donghyuck smile a bit more if he had an eccentric-colored hair.

and so he takes about four boxes home of bleach and pink hair color. "it's gonna be fun," he beams at donghyuck as he tosses the boxes on his lap as he sat on the ouch. "just... you know, don't make my hair fall out or something," jaemin laughs a little, scratching the back of his head as he leans in to give a kiss on his boyfriend's forehead. "i'll go wash my hair and change into something more comfortable, you get those ready, okay?" he adds, tapping on the box before jogging to his room.

it was a distraction of sorts, get donghyuck's mind off things that bothered him, and jaemin was more than willing to move mountains -- and sacrifice his roots -- to make sure donghyuck felt better. what could go wrong? he thougth to himself as he steps out of the bathroom, drying his hair with a towel and dressed down to an old pair of jogging pants and white shirt. he padded quietly to the living room, pushing the coffee table off the center to make room for himself, "so... how should we do this?" he wasn't worried about anything really, this could end up really bad, like kindergarten-art-project-type of bad, or he'll pull off the look really well. either of those is fine, he can live with it. as long as his hair doesn't fall off.

the fear began to gnaw at him the minute he set foot in building. he really hated this place with every fiber of his being. it always brought back memories that took time to recover from. there he was thinking that he'd never have to be here for reasons other than his weekly meetings with that doctor. and now, his hurried steps to the nurse' stations proved that he still did not have things under control. no matter how much he tried to keep his composure, he knew that his features were betraying just from the way one of the nurse' expressions softened in worry at the sight of his.

he didn't hesitate to make time to be there, to spend a few hours to see how hyunjoon was doing. everything happened so fast, and now he's regretting not having kept in touch. jaemin knew he should have tried harder not just because something like this had happened, but because that's what friends should be doing. he held his breath as he stood by the door, still scared as hell that something had gone wrong when he had waited half a day before coming to visit the younger. his heart began to race as he pushes the door open and steps inside.

his chest tightened and something cold brushes over his chest as the sight of hyunjoon's face. there was relief that he was still here, that he was okay -- or at least jaemin thought so. but from what he's heard, the others were not as fortunate. this is a wake up call, another chance to right all the things he didn't do enough. "tsk, looks like you’re only here to skip school," he greets the younger, the mischievous smile pulling on his lips as his steps drew him closer. the smile soon softens and he sighs, "how are you feeling, kid? you gave all of us a scare..."
