Soleil would never turn down a chance to go clothes shopping.

Normally, it’s something that they will do alone, or with their brother. On rare occasions, they’ll let themself be dragged through various stores a little bit more below their budget by the rest of the dance crew. They’ve never really been shopping with anyone else apart from that.

In fact, they’ve not really been shopping at all, recently. So when an opportunity comes up (an opportunity to dress up the only friend they have outside of the dance crew anymore), they can’t turn it down. Of course, Sol doesn’t warn Nako exactly where they’re planning on taking her. It’s not the most expensive option (that would have been the custom designer route that they absolutely considered at first), but they’re fully aware that it might still be more than the young student had ever considered.

It’s not a good day, but it’s not a bad day, either. It’s an okay day, which makes waiting by themself on a bench a little awkward. They check their phone, check the time, check the last message they received from Nako, and then from their brother, and then slide the phone back away into the pocket of their jacket. They adjust their mask, adjust their gloves, tug their jacket tighter around themself.

it was time for a change.

for as inconspicuous and unassuming as woong typically likes to be, his hair is an exception. sure, there’s colors he stays far away from, each one more unnatural than the last, but it’s not like there’s much natural left about the blond in his hair. especially now that it’s grown out enough to warrant another trip to a salon. blond was fun while it lasted, but he doesn’t think he’d agree that they have more fun. it was kind of boring, actually; nothing at all changed his life or even the way he felt about himself.

today would be red. he had booked the appointment on the advice of a friend who had raved about this salon in particular, who eventually admitted to getting a discount if they referred someone new for an appointment. well, woong’s nothing if not occasionally helpful and the timing was convenient enough. he’s going for red this time; bright for now, but usually fades prettily enough that he won’t be too self conscious when it does.

entering a new place is a little nerve wracking for a typically anxious boy. he eyes the place as he pushes through the door, at least it looks clean, and approaches the desk with the same sort of quiet apprehension. he’s not afraid of bleach and dye, he’s done it a bunch of times before. it’s a little more complicated than that, a little less inclined to dive deeper or explain. judgement may be the root of the fear, but it’s to the stylist’s professional hands he has to trust himself.

mina could say she was an expert in fashion. having worked at a clothes retail store for a few months, she has reason to believe that she’s good at putting outfits together. so much so that if someone were to ask her for fashion advice, she’d be able to take a look at them and give critiques and suggestions. it’s surprising, considering no one else in the family has an eye for fashion like she does. but, that in mind, she strengthens the mindset of fighting for herself in the world. no one will ever catch her slipping. they may think she’s a bitch, but at least she’s a well-dressed one. 

besides h&m (for her employee’s discount), she also spends a good amount of her time thrifting for cute outfits as well. it’s why this flea market was right up her alley. adorable clothes at an affordable price? it’s a reality that is becoming more common and mina was more than delighted with that. what else could she do besides spread her happiness over cute fashion at a good price? that’s right! share her happiness with others. 

     Xiao had heard of it before, how his taste in clothes didn’t match his face, how his clothes was too basic for his face. The comments would often just weird Xiao out, because even though he models and surely gets lots of compliments on his appearance he still doesn’t consider himself that handsome. And after perhaps the thousandth comment about how his clothing style was basic and boring, he decided to finally get a better clothing style, in this, he chose to get help from Ten who also needed help with their fashion style, hence the two were getting a “makeover” together. 

The male browsed through a few shirts, but they all seemed… too fancy, not his style, out of his comfort zone, and surely that was perhaps probably the purpose, but still, they were not at all to Xiao’s interest. He turned 180 degrees around and looked at the person he had dragged here “are you finding anything hyung?” he asked, voice soft as his eyes wandered around the shop. Perhaps the idea of coming here wasn’t so good anyway, and he should just keep to his oh so boring and basic style? He shrugged at the thought.

“Ah” he let out as a sudden idea popped into his mind “hyung!” he half-shouted out as he reached out and placed a hand on the older’s shoulder. “What if we try choosing clothes for each other?”

makeup appliances didn’t make sense to sakura, she’s been watching tutorials to test on her face. but it’s a different story when she realises that she’s offered to help seokjin when she has clumsy hands and could mess up the eyeliner. she isn’t the greatest when it comes to putting on blush, eyeshadow, or any makeup on another person. she might’ve had opportunities in the past to do it on her other friends but she simply couldn’t create the art they’d ask for.

“i really hope i can trust your judgement today, soyeon....” cautious eyes wander over the racks of clothes, and then down at her own. if she could describe this store’s style in three words? simple. rips, baggy, and different. she’d never been into street style, and the one thing she couldn’t shake from her mother’s teaching had been her love of fancy clothes. laces, frills, flowing - all of it was a must when it came to tingyan’s style. while the female admired her friend’s skills when it came to beauty, they couldn’t have a more different sense of fashion. but that would all change today - she’d be soyeon, and soyeon would be her. tingyan had been hesitant to accept soyeon’s proposal of a makeover for the mgas, and only accepted when her request to give soyeon a makeover as well was accepted. so here they were, in the middle of the mall, switching styles for a day and deciding on what’d work and what wouldn’t.

“wait a second, haru.”

mumbling softly with the best grammar he could muster from his limited japanese, hyojin silently sighs a breath of relief again for taking that class all those semesters ago as he tries to apply lipstick on him. if not, he wouldn’t have been able to even communicate with the boy, nevertheless convince him to help him with such a task.

he’s not even sure where to begin when it comes to this -- one day, he was just talking with a close friend, and the topic of dating came up. of course, more specifically, it was about a certain female. ( or maybe two. things aren’t going so great when it comes to his love life. )

the bottom line was, push has come to shove and now he’s trying to learn how to do makeup. apparently it was not only attractive if you knew how to do makeup well -- not that hyojin was actively searching for a relationship more like he was trying to impress someone -- but also a helpful life skill in the future. who knows, maybe one day he’ll need to help someone out with a makeup malfunction. it was totally possible. 

either way, he’s going to owe the boy a lot of snacks later for going through this trial and error.

hyunjoon for all his years and all his different fashion choices, has never dyed his hair before. he’s cut it super short, he’s grown it longer, he had a mullet for a couple weeks. but it’s always been the same black hair he was born with. not a bad look, the black hair suits him, and it adds to his over all emo aesthetic. but after the news he had received he was feeling it’s high time to do something new. 

“hey hyo.” he started as him and hyojeong walked out of the school building at the end of the day. for once he didn’t have his phone out already, both hands holding the strap of his backpack and his walk had a small bounce in it. “would you want to help me dye my hair?” the question had really come out of the blue. in all his time and all his years he had never once expressed a desire to dye his hair. but as stated before he was looking for something new. some change. not that he hasn’t had enough change in his life the last couple months.
