This 300-year old map to be submitted by the Philippine government to the United Nations (@unitednations) will surely kill the position of China in reclaiming a portion of the West Philippine Sea. Having said so, the reclamation projects of China within the West Philippine Sea is a clear and strong violation of the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Seas, wherein China, I believe, is one of the parties involved. Apparently, we Filipinos are not stupid, especially when the jurisdiction and sovereignty of our nation is at stake. Quoting one of the1987 Constitution mandates: “The State shall protect the nation’s marine wealth in its exclusive economic zone, and reserve its use and enjoyment exclusively to Filipino citizens.” #WestPhilippineSea #UnitedNations #ArbitraryCase #UNCLOS
