Filling out the court record after convicting him of theft, Magistrate Hawkshaw asked him his nationality. Mike, hesitated, and finally ventured âEuropeanâ. âThatâs no good, I must have the country,â his worship said. âWell,â Mike said,â when I was born it was Austria; when I left for Canada, it was Czecho-Slovakia; now...(with a helpless gesture), I donât know what it it is.â His worship entered him as Czech.
