re: video essays - frankly the attitude I find more "cringey" than actual video essays are people who see video essays and go "ah yes, this is cringe, this is bad, I dislike it when people think critically about media and current events" like... what kind of standpoint is that? how is "lets not critically examine the things we internalize because that's bad" less "cringe" than "here are my thoughts about a particular subject, which I've chosen to look into"?? so 'weird hill to die on' indeed smh
People who decide to talk about their interests and/or their personal struggles openly are ten times braver than the uptight prigs who think it’s ‘cringy’.
