self care culture still being thought of as and related to buying a matcha latte and a yummy looking pastry, doing skin care with fancy looking products and taking the time to relax and read a book next to a pretty sunlit window fucking pisses me off poor people can't even get a doctor appointment baby poor people barely can afford vegetables, we can't buy expensive ass serums poor people usually barely have time to CRY about their worries so maybe we could teach our teenagers on the internet who don't have an aesthetic bedroom and have to take care of their younger siblings while they stay on school that sometimes self care looks like just making sure to have all your meals, even if that's two a day. sometimes it looks like having 10 minutes for yourself while you shower to take some deep breathes, sometimes it looks like being able to get together with a friend and having some orange juice and laughing at a silly video. sometimes self care looks like staying up a bit late so that you don't have to deal with everyone around you for at least 20 minutes before going to sleep. sometimes self care looks like writing down what you feel on the margins of some page and to let yourself cry when you can and to hug yourself and tell a friend when you feel sad. and that's okay. self care doesn't have to look aesthetic, it doesn't have to be expensive. most times, self care isn't pretty and it isn't easy. but it's real.
