Swimmers in Billy Roseâs "Aquacade" at the Marine Amphitheater at the World's Fair, June 10, 1939. The Aquacade was a music, dance, and swimming show presented in an 11,000 seat amphitheater. The pool and the 300 by 200-foot stage could be hidden behind a lighted 40 foot-high curtain of water. Johnny Weissmuller and a pre-Hollywood Esther Williams were among the performers. Below, the cover of the program.
