𝐈𝐍    𝐓𝐇𝐄    𝐔𝐓𝐌𝐎𝐒𝐓    𝐒𝐎𝐌𝐁𝐄𝐑   𝐂𝐈𝐑𝐂𝐔𝐌𝐒𝐓𝐀𝐍𝐂𝐄𝐒 ,    when    horror    had    been    customary ,    an    intimate    affair .        how    could    someone    possibly    render    any    semblance    of    self    without    it    being    an    intricate    design    of    who    and    what   one    was ?    River    just    a    hollow    ruin    of    marred    flesh ;    made    sentient .        it    served    as    her    C E A S E L E S S    reminder .       [    𝚌𝚑𝚒𝚕𝚍𝚑𝚘𝚘𝚍    𝚜𝚝𝚘𝚕𝚎𝚗  ,    𝚕𝚒𝚟𝚎𝚜    𝚜𝚎𝚒𝚣𝚎𝚍  ,    𝚑𝚘𝚠    𝚌𝚘𝚖𝚏𝚘𝚛𝚝    𝚠𝚊𝚜    𝚗𝚎𝚟𝚎𝚛    𝚊    𝚕𝚞𝚡𝚞𝚛𝚢    𝚜𝚑𝚎    𝚌𝚘𝚞𝚕𝚍    𝚊𝚏𝚏𝚘𝚛𝚍  .    ]      ━━         ❛    Forget    it ,    drop    it .    ❜        cerulean    eyes    penetrate .        they    were    𝙂𝙇𝘼𝘾𝙄𝘼𝙇    &&    𝘽𝙄𝙏𝙄𝙉𝙂 ,    akin    to    the    winter’s    chill .        it    only    emphasised    the    mottled    purple    epidermis    besmirched    beneath    her    now    avoidant ,    downcast    gaze .

❛    Do    you    𝐄𝐕𝐄𝐍    believe    what    you    just    said ,    or    are    you    trying    to    convince    yourself ?    ❜       canines    tug    at    her    bottom    lip ,    the    slight    sting    vying    for    attention    as   soft    trickles   of    ichor    bled    onto    her    tongue .       𝚞𝚝𝚝𝚎𝚛𝚊𝚗𝚌𝚎𝚜    𝚊𝚛𝚎    𝚖𝚎𝚛𝚎𝚕𝚢    𝚊    𝚖𝚞𝚛𝚖𝚞𝚛 .       defensive    position    applied    as    she    tried    to    fold    within    herself ,    timbre    hiding    the    𝘽𝙐𝘿𝘿𝙄𝙉𝙂    𝙃𝙊𝙎𝙏𝙄𝙇𝙄𝙏𝙔    churning    her    innards .

alfred hadn’t seen the injury occur, but it was clear that sam was hurt — badly. it hadn’t been an easy battle, but they’d managed to win. the only downside was the number of deaths and injuries. god had protected alfred, but he couldn’t protect them all. sam had hit his head pretty hard, alfred had been told.
