Applin are small, worm-like Pokemon that burrow into apples as soon as they're born. The fruit serves as a home, food source, and protection against preying bird Pokemon; the flavor of the apple will even determine their evolutionary path.
#840.51 - Applin who choose to live inside a tart apple will evolve into Flapple. After maintaining a diet of tart and sour fruit, these Pokemon begin to take on the qualities of the apple they live within by producing a powerful acid, capable of causing chemical burns at full strength. These Applin stay within their apple their whole lives, eventually attaching flaps of the apple skin as wing-like appendages.
Named: Applin - Wrapple - Flapple
#840.52 - Applin who take residence in a sweet apple will evolve into Appletun. These Pokemon have a voracious appetite and break the outer shell of their apple as their back swells from heavy meals. As they mature, they will begin to produce a sweet nectar that attracts their prey - and unintentionally - hungry children!
Named: Applin - Applump - Appletun
#840.53 - Applin who prefer the shelter of a Syrupy Apple, a rare variety found exclusively in Kitakami, will evolve into Dipplin. In high-demand, multiple Applin wyrms will seek after the same Syrupy Apple; however, instead of fighting, the wyrms will pair up and live and work together within the apple, lead by the strongest individual, who becomes the the “fore-wyrm”. The wyrms develop the ability to produce a sweet syrup, which they use to coat their apple in protective layers. This syrup exudes an enticing aroma, captivating Dipplin's opponents and serving to either impede or engulf them.
#1011.5 - As Dipplin age and grow stronger, the pair of wyrms eat away at their home fruit, producing more and more layers of syrup until they live in a “apple” made entirely of successive layers of hardened syrup. So much fragrant syrup creates an irresistible lure to other wyrms, who join up with the initial pair to create a powerful colony of up to seven syrpents (fully mature wyrms) lead by he head syrpent, the former fore-wyrm. Captive Dipplin must be taught the move Dragon Cheer, which they can perform to attract other nearby wyrms to join their colony.
Named: Applin - Dripplin - Dipplin - Syrapple - Hydrapple
