I N S P I R A T I O N, I N S P I R A T I O N, I N S P I R A T I O N - getting started
From what I’ve understood, Application 2 is supposed to get us ready and thinking about our self-initiated projects in the final year.
To help get us started, we looked at things that inspired us. I chose the following images:
Polly Nor’s art - I like her consistent illustrative style, the theme of self-care, mental health - specifically related to women. inner vs. outer self
Foster Hunting’s stop motion animation - I love the set designs and unique narrative style/amgles
Music videos - example L$D by Asap Rocky - again angles, visuals and colour scheme - he gives a different spin to the idea of the high one gets from drugs to aspirations, hopes, love and intimacy.
Pari Dukovic’s photography - tackles issues of representation and reimagining classic works of art - questions of femininity and diversity.
Pingolin - erotic art, I like the depiction of female sexuality, its positive. Bright colours, strong concepts.
Left - RadioHead’s collages, combining headshots of celebrities and characters from popular films and movies with famous traditional/famous artworks.
Top Right - Rajasthani women, Im from Rajasthan and I’m interested in portraying women from where I’m from.
Bottom centre - The Atlas of Beauty - A book/project by Michela Noroc - again, it deals with representation, diversity, and a fresh approach on what it means to be beautiful.
Bottom Right - Primitivism - tropical imagery - idealisation/exoticization of cultures and what this highlights about the actual reality.
Of course, all of these are very broad - I’m planning on narrowing it down.
