Hello fellow podcast listeners,
So in this post, Iāve tried to stay clear of the podcasts and episodes we all know and love (Iām looking at you, Serial) in order to add a little variety (it is the spice of life after all). Hopefully this is a selection of some awesome episodes and podcasts that will give you something interesting to listen to as you start 2016.Ā
Our Top Fiction Pick: The Bright Sessions
Dr. Bright provides therapy for the strange and unusual; their sessions have been recorded for research purposes. The first season follows three patients discovering and coping with the atypical realities of their lives. You can check the episodes out at www.thebrightsessions.comĀ
Why we love it: I donāt listen to much fiction when it comes to my podcasts, but oh how I love this one!Ā Each episode focuses on a different one of Dr Brightās patients, detailing their struggles as a strange and unusual person in a world that just isnāt ready for those people. Theyāre also relatively short (around 15min or so), making it the perfect listen during shorter trips drives or activities like cooking.Ā
Our Top Story: Shipped to Timbuktu by Reply All
What starts off as a seemingly innocuous prank with a bunch of cookie advisors, turns into one of the most incredible stories. It gripped me from beginning to end. Trust me, this one is totally worth a listen.Ā
The One That Made Us Look At The World Differently: How public relations works by Stuff You Should Know
I kind of avoided this one in my stream for a while, and that was a massive error. If there was ever a case forĀ ādonāt judge a book by itās coverā, this episode is it. The episode focuses on Edward Bernays, the father of PR, and covers everything from Nazis, to bananas, bacon and civil war. Even if you arenāt in marketing, PR or advertising this one will definitely pull you in.Ā
You can listen to it here.
A Good One To Start The Year: The meaning of work by TED Radio Hour
Looking for some thought-provoking inspiration on your work, why you work and how to inject more meaning into your work in 2016? I canāt recommend this one enough. Another gem from the team at TED. If you havenāt already subscribed, you should definitely make that one of your resolutions (if youāre into that thing).Ā
Listen to the episode hereĀ :)
Thanks for reading and let us know what your top picks for 2015 were. Weād love to share them on the blog.Ā
