Kordia will build wireless network for APLNG Queensland coal seam gas project
New Zealand telecom Kordia secured a $94 million voice and data communications contract to provide a wireless network for Australia Pacific LNG (APLNG) at its Queensland, Australia coal seam gas site.
In what is expected to be a two-year project, Kordia will install a wireless communication and control infrastructure at APLNG's 100,000 square km location. The C&C infrastructure will include voice, data and control networks.
Kordia personnel will further provide network design, engineering, procurement and construction for wireless and fixed services, and other network-relevant services.
In addition, Kordia will also be installing a private network with a microwave backbone serving to backhaul its processes. The private network will provide mobile voice, broadband wireless, PABXs, radio telemetry, and LAN and WAN services to APNLG personnel.
Korida will initially manage the APLNG Queensland project from its Brisbane office. The New Zealand telecom aims to offer its extensive experience in telecommunications infrastructure to the resources industry.
Origin, ConocoPhillips, and Sinopec formed the APLNG Queensland joint venture gas project. APLNG aims to develop the coal seam gas at Surat and Bowen Basins. it will also build an LNG facility on Curtis Island.
